On September 1, 2024, Coburg Village celebrates twenty-five years of providing high-quality 55+ independent living in Rexford, New York.
Since opening in 1999, more than 1,000 people from the Capital Region and beyond have made Coburg Village their home. The community offers a combination of elegant independent senior living in a peaceful, rural setting and an array of services and amenities that promote independence and a high quality of life. For many residents, living at Coburg Village allows them the freedom to remain active and engaged in their community.
Coburg Village was conceived in the early 1990s by Wartburg Lutheran Services, now named The Lutheran Care Network (TLCN). TLCN identified an unmet need in southern Saratoga County for a community that would allow seniors to age in place, thrive, and remain independent. TLCN presented its plans to the Clifton Park Planning Board and received final approval for the project consisting of 210 apartments in July 1998. On September 1, 1999, Coburg Village opened its doors to the first 23 residents. In 2013, 78 additional apartments were added to the campus.
Today, Coburg Village is a vibrant community of more than 325 independent living residents employing nearly 130 people.
“I have had the pleasure to serve as the Director of Coburg Village for ten years. Coburg Village offers an all-inclusive lifestyle, free from the demands of home ownership that allows residents the time to enjoy old interests and explore new ones. When you walk through our doors, it feels like you’ve become part of an extended family. In my role, I’ve been blessed to meet so many fascinating individuals who share their talents and experiences,” reflects Antoinette Vinciquerra.
Coburg Village is a 288-unit rental community offering 10-unique floor plans, including spacious cottages and one- and two-bedroom apartments. We offer an array of social and cultural activities, chef-prepared dining, and housekeeping services. Additionally, Coburg Village’s compliment of programs, services, and amenities support engagement, connection, and overall well-being.
“Coburg Village is like being on a cruise ship!” remarks Coburg Village resident and Residents’ Association president, Jim Sefcik. “The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious! Coburg offers a variety of social, physical, and intellectual programs that stimulate your mind and body.”
“I’m a historian, so I continue to do a lot of research and teach. Living at Coburg Village gives me the time to still do this, because I don't have the usual things you have to do around the house anymore,” Sefcik adds.
To commemorate our 25th Anniversary we are creating the Coburg Village Academic Scholarship.
The Coburg Village Academic Scholarship Program will award several scholarships to Coburg Village staff, their children, or grandchildren to be used toward academic advancement. As most residents will attest, Coburg Village’s professional, dedicated staff are the backbone of our community; positively impacting resident life each and every day. Whether a server or chef in our dining rooms; front desk staff; a housekeeper; maintenance worker; administrative personnel; or activities staff, each help make Coburg Village a vibrant and welcoming community. The Coburg Village Academic Scholarship Program is an opportunity to recognize these individuals in a significant way.
